You might have the best content in the world.

But without engaging with other accounts, all your hard work goes unnoticed.

Why?

Because LinkedIn is a social platform, powered by the community between users.

So it is not enough to just post content on LinkedIn.

The platform favors accounts that actively drive this desired result.

Comments are the building blocks of gaining followers, building relationships, and driving business.

Get your approach right and you can put your LinkedIn growth on steroids…

Let’s dive in:

1) Find the best time

I schedule my post for a time like 8 am EST.

I want to pick a time when the majority of my audience is online and engaging.

You can easily see this in your analytics section.

Don’t lose sleep over picking the right time.

A/B test times and see what resonates with your audience.

2) Post priming

I warm up the algorithm by engaging with people 15 minutes before my post goes online.

In the past, I used to spend a lot of time on my previous not buffering.

This little strategy will boost your post’s visibility.

3) Posturing

Posturing is the process of responding to comments on your post (Richard Van Der Blon) to drive engagement on your post.

The post gets released at 8 am EST.

I set aside 60-90 minutes to nurture my post.

In my replies, I use:

  • Questions in replies to keep the conversation going.

  • Encouragement to keep my community coming back.

  • Treat my audience like old friends calling them - mate, friend, and pal.

  • I say thanks (because it's kind).

  • For any new commenters, I message them thanking them for commenting to encourage future engagement.

After nurturing my post for 30 minutes I will comment on my post again with an additional mini post.

This helps to further increase the activity on my post and its overall engagement within those critical couple of hours for the algorithm.

I could:

a. Expand on the narrative of the post

b. Ask the audience another question

c. Offer some extra tips

In that 30 minutes, if I have no comments to reply to I will leave comments on active accounts in my feed by using my messaging box to show me.

I alternate between my main post and the feed.

4) Engagement Lists

Unfortunately, LinkedIn doesn’t have a tool for users to create engagement lists and comment easily.

You can make a list and paste it into an Excel, and open it every day to engage.

But it gets tiring after some time.

Especially if you are using multiple lists like I do;

  • Peers

  • Prospects

  • Influencers etc.

Furthermore, finding the right accounts is another challenge itself.

I used to spend hours and hours finding accounts for my niche and my clients.

Now I can find accounts in seconds with Aware.

(Actually in exactly 2-steps);

1. Choose the niche

2. Start commenting

5) Commenting Structure

Aware then collates all comments from my list as one cohesive live updated feed.

I rattle off 30-50 comments in quick succession.

For each comment, I use this framework:

  • What - do I think

  • Why - does my point matter

  • Punchline - Strong finishing statement

Comments will be no longer than 3 lines.

That's a wrap!
